RÁÐHÚS

COMPLETE RENOVATION

description

The building was built as a hospital in 1927, designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, the state architect of Iceland. In 1977 the building was transformed into a Town hall. In 2019 a decision was taken to give the building a complete renovation, with better access for disabled people. The design emphasis was on giving the building’s interiors a 1920s makeover with a new elevator connecting all floors to a new exterior ramp down to the ground floor.
